Cork gaskets vary depending upon the size of the granule used to manufacturer the material, and the base rubber compounds (neoprene or nitrile) with which the material is bonded.
These are a cheap and effective seal, with good oil resistant properties. Cork is used for: sumps, crank case covers, inspection doors, valve covers, electrical transformer gaskets, electrical switchgear, general cover and lids, and anti-vibration purposes.
These gaskets are used in the automotive industry for carburetors, fuel and oil pumps, thermostats, and gearboxes.
