Cork gaskets vary depending upon the size of the granules used to manufacturer the material, and the base rubber compounds with which the material is bonded (commonly neoprene or nitrile).
Cork materials make relatively cheap and effective seals, with good oil resistant properties. Cork is typically used in: sumps, crank case covers, inspection doors, valve covers, electrical transformer gaskets, electrical switchgear, general cover and lids, and for anti-vibration purposes.
These gaskets are often used in the automotive industry for carburetors, fuel and oil pumps, thermostats, and gearboxes.
Different grades of cork have different temperature and pressure ratings, so please ask for advice if you have a particular specification that needs to be met.
Colours available – Natural with black rubber flecks, brown and orange.
