In short: RAM manufactures gaskets and seals for oil-cooled transformers and electrical switchgear at production volume — in specified, accredited materials including nitrile, exceptionally high-grade nitrile-bonded cork (such as Nebar), EMI shielding and technical foams — with full material certification and traceability on every batch. Why transformer sealing is critical

An oil leak on a transformer is not a maintenance nuisance — it is a failure path. Lost oil means lost cooling and insulation, and an overheating transformer risks critical damage and unplanned outages. The gaskets and seals between tank, cover, bushings and radiators are what stand between normal operation and that failure, so they are specified, certified parts — not commodity cut shapes.

Materials for transformer duty

We manufacture transformer gaskets and switchgear seals in the materials this duty actually demands:

• Nitrile and high-grade nitrile-bonded cork (rubberised cork), including Nebar — the classic transformer-oil sealing materials, supplied at exceptionally high grades.

What materials are transformer gaskets made from?
Most commonly nitrile rubber and nitrile-bonded cork (rubberised cork) such as Nebar, chosen for their resistance to transformer oil. EMI shielding materials, technical foams and other solid rubbers are used for switchgear and enclosure sealing.

Why do transformer gaskets fail?
Typical causes are material degradation from heat and oil over time, incorrect material selection, and loss of bolt load. Correct material grade and certified, repeatable manufacture are the defence.
