Why do gaskets fail?
Gaskets fail for many reasons; often a combination of different factors. Here are some things to consider:
- Are the flanges even/flat?
- Is the Torque correct?
- Are the bolt spaces even?
- Is the gasket too thick?
- Is the material correct? (resistant to fluid, service chemicals, temperature etc.)
- Too old (gaskets have a shelf life)
- Blow out (pressure inconsistencies)
